| | NCPR story looks at Delehanty emailFebruary 27, 2013 - Jessica Collier NCPR has a story today going into Jack Delehanty's email. Delehanty says he wrote an email to his hunting club friends jesting about putting in an offer to buy the Lawsons' property, since it's being foreclosed on. He has been a relatively vocal opponent of the resort, which would be built near his home. The hunting club is expected to be removed once ACR developers buy the property, which is currently owned by the OWD Trust but under contract to the ACR. Dan McClelland in his Tupper Lake Free Press editorial last week accused Delehanty of making anti-semetic slurs aimed at Susan Lawson and Mike Foxman. Several other resort supporters have made similar assumptions and accusations. Delehanty says that wasn't what he meant. He says that the phrase "The Nearly-Hassidic One" was a reference to a close friend and hunting club member, and that's how that group of friends tends to talk to each other. He told NCPR (and the Enterprise) that he isn't prejudice and that he feels bad for taking "a little too much pleasure perhaps, but nevertheless I did take some, and I'm guilty of that, in finding out that my neighbors were coming upon difficult financial times." Here's a scanned copy of a printout of the email, which a resort supporter shared with the Enterprise after it became controversial:
Article Comments(15)bjccd5Mar-13-13 11:39 PM Hey Jack, Your financial times are not too far from-a-changing due to your sole ignorance and lack of relations to the few who might like you. bjccd5Mar-12-13 11:00 PM deedeejr has some emotional attachment as to what is going to become VERY PUBLIC, vey soon.....as quite a few others who don't even know who they are yet. HUGE STORY COMING FOLKS!!!! I will take it when the other media outlets are scared to....stay tuned! bjccd5Mar-06-13 11:15 PM Have my documents in order to send off into media land. Let's hope some attention comes in favor (which is inevitable) soon!!!! bjccd5Mar-05-13 10:41 PM Lol, nobody is quite sure what to do w/ REAL (potential) Adirondack Corruption in regard to a retired D.A. who is racist and is so vocally oppossitional to local economic growth because why????? His hot-tub runneth over, lol!!!! bjccd5Mar-04-13 11:06 PM Shoots, I'll bring this to the NY Times and Date-Line if nobody else dares! Now there's quivering in rich Hot-tubs uhuhhhhh????? Cool the water please, Nope!!!!!!!!!!!!! bjccd5Mar-04-13 9:10 PM Jess, I have a multitude of problems w/ your reporting, but I respect you for 'trucking along'. Keep the pressure on this story, as you have only scratched the surface of a 'Dateline NBC' worthy report. THIS IS HUGE!!!!!!! Don't get pushed aside, this could be your "break-through" journalistic moment!!!!! Yet, Procede with caution! bjccd5Mar-04-13 9:02 PM Don Dew Jr.; What do you fear from this blog? What 'camp' are you hiding from? Actually quite contrare Mr. Dew.... The Recent Tone of the ACR Debate Leaves You with No Other Alternative THAN to KEEP the People Speaking!!! First Ammendment rights my friend. Racial overtones and anti-sematic slurs were the ORIGIN of the blog dude!!! Response is more than expected, it's NEWS!!!!!!! And Jess finally has a GREAT STORY to report on!!!! PhillyrocksMar-03-13 2:17 PM Mountain Dew, and to think I thought the deletions were because my comment was so prescient. Seriously though, I disagree with removal of this great source of information on a topic of great relevance to the area. deedeejrMar-02-13 6:17 PM Cathy,Peter,Jess, If the content of this blog has deteriorated to the point of racial slurs and name calling serious enough for them to be removed I respectfully ask that you remove this blog entirely. The recent tone of the ACR debate leaves you with no other alternative. Future newsworthy stories regarding the ACR can be handled through the normal reporting channels. I hope you give my request the same carefull consideration you gave when you decided to remove comments from you news stories. Thank You! bjccd5Mar-02-13 12:15 AM Delehanty has opened up a HUGE potential problem for himself and his family with his own anti-sematic slurs and overtones. His entire career is now under scrutiny because of his own ignorance, and now known prejudices. Perhaps Lawson will buy his home and property shortly. Probably opt out of the hunting club CLan though! bjccd5Mar-02-13 12:08 AM My comments had no racial slurs nor name calling, yet deleted. I was assuming Jack threatened you or the ADE which is probably the case. Thanks for the info nevertheless. CollierMar-01-13 8:53 PM In case anyone is wondering, the Enterprise deleted some comments from this post that included racial slurs and name calling. It's not OK, no matter what you're commenting on. Just an FYI. ~Jess Collier PhillyrocksFeb-28-13 9:53 AM Have been guilty myself of taking a few verbal shots at Bob and Leslie Harrison's property sale and abandonment of Tupper Lake, glad to see 'em go, won't be missed, duck!, etc. Humor's a funny thing.
