| | UNYTEA leader congratulates OwensNovember 7, 2012 - Chris MorrisIn a show of bipartisanship, the leader of the Upstate New York Tea Party has congratulated U.S. Rep. Bill Owens, D-Plattsburgh, on his win Tuesday in New York's new 21st Congressional District. "As many of you know, since my illness in April of 2010, I have not played as active role in the NY 21st Congressional race that I would have preferred," Barie said in a prepared statement. "Nevertheless, I congratulate Bill Owens on his hard fought victory and Matt Doheny for his valiant struggle." Barie went on to say that the nation still faces many challenges. He said he hopes and prays that Republicans and Democrats will "work together to meet those challenges and to save our country from financial ruin." Early last month, Barie announced that he will step down as UNYTEA's chairman early next year. He confirmed this morning that he will resign his position effective Jan. 15, 2013. "I encourage people on both sides to stay involved and to do what they can to make a difference," Barie said. Article CommentsNo comments posted for this article.
