Massena newspaper backs Owens (updated)

November 5, 2012 - Chris Morris
This should be my last post about an editorial board endorsement in the race for New York's 21st Congressional District.

The Massena Daily Courier-Observer has endorsed U.S. Rep. Bill Owens, D-Plattsburgh, over Matt Doheny, the Republican, Conservative and Independence party candidate.

Here's the press release from the Owens campaign:

Today, Congressman Bill Owens received the endorsement of The Massena Daily Courier-Observer in his bid for New York's 21st Congressional District.

"I am grateful for all the support I have received from the twelve counties as the campaign winds down," said Owens. "We have a real opportunity to continue the progress made by local leaders and businesses in growing New York's economy, and I look forward to doing exactly that in Washington."

The Daily Courier-Observer's endorsement noted that Bill Owens "has been an honorable and effective representative for the people of the North Country," and that "he has also demonstrated an ability, much like his predecessor John McHugh, to work with others across the aisle." You canread the full endorsement here.

Recently, Congressman Owens received the endorsement of the Albany Times Union and the Saratogian. In addition, Owens has received support from local and national leaders of all political stripes, including Governor Andrew Cuomo, Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, Moriah Town Supervisor Tom Scozzafava and Assemblywoman Teresa Sayward. Owens endorsements also inclue the National Rifle Association (NRA), 1199 SEIU, NYSUT, USW, and the National Farmers Union (NFU), among others.

UPDATE: The press release above should have included a link to the full endorsement, but it didn't for whatever reason. Click here to read it; it's actually posted on the Owens for Congress website because there's no actual link on the Daily Courier-Observer's website. There is a photo of the print version, too, just in case you needed further proof.
