| | Cuomo endorses OwensOctober 23, 2012 - Chris MorrisU.S. Rep. Bill Owens, D-Plattsburgh, has been endorsed by Gov. Andrew Cuomo. I'm working on a story for tomorrow's paper, but in the meantime feel free to check out the press release issued by Owens: Today, Governor Andrew Cuomo endorsed Congressman Bill Owens in his re-election for New York's 21st congressional district. "Congressman Owens has shown a serious commitment to strengthening New York's economy and is working hard every day to help create jobs in the state," said Governor Cuomo. "We need a champion in Washington who will fight for working families and good paying jobs, and that's why I'm standing with Bill in this election." "I have had the opportunity to witness firsthand the efforts Governor Cuomo is making towards job creation through my work with the State's regional economic development councils," said Owens. "I am proud to have the support of a Governor that has done so much for local job creation, and I look forward to partnering with him again in the future to continue these efforts." Congressman Owens also expressed his support for Governor Cuomo's efforts to turn around the State government. "Governor Cuomo has been hard at work making the State's government work better, and I applaud his efforts to do so." Congressman Owens is running for re-election in the newly formed 21st Congressional District. He is a veteran of the Air Force, and helped create over 2,000 jobs in his community in part by helping to recruit businesses from Canada to expand in New York and by helping to redeveloping the Plattsburgh Air Force Base when it closed. Congressman Owens is currently serving in his first elected office. He has three children and four grandchildren. Article CommentsNo comments posted for this article.
