Bisso to host town hall in Tupper Lake

October 10, 2012 - Chris Morris
Assembly candidate Karen Bisso will host a town hall meeting in Tupper Lake tomorrow evening.

Bisso, an educator from Plattsburgh, is challenging Assemblywoman Janet Duprey, R-Peru, in the race for New York's new 115th Assembly District. Bisso will be on the Conservative Party line in the Nov. 6 election; Duprey will be on the Republican and Independence party lines; and Plattsburgh City Councilman Tim Carpenter is running as a Democrat.

The event is scheduled for 6 p.m. Thursday at the Tupper Lake Rod and Gun Club on Lake Simond Road.

A press release issued by the Bisso campaign says the candidate "has been talking about the (l)and issues in the North Country for quite some time now.

"She has decided that it is time for the public and NYS Agencies to come together to discuss life within the blue line," the release says.

Here's the rest of that press release:

"Living and recreating within the blue line comes with many challenges that the residents of the 115th Assembly district face daily," says Bisso. "It's about time that politicians, members of state agencies, members of the business community, and local residents get together in a room and have the necessary hard conversations. In fact, it is long overdue."

Panelists will include a conglomerate of people from across state and local agencies. Members of the APA, DEC, ACR Project Developers and Supporters, American Tree Company, Protect the Adirondacks, Nature Conservancy, Association of Towns and Villages, NYS Sportsmen Federation, Tupper Lake Town Supervisor Roger Amell, and other local officials have all been invited to serve as panelists.

The public is encouraged to attend this open forum to both learn a little more about all sides of the issues and to voice their own concerns.
