| | Gillibrand backs OwensAugust 10, 2012 - Chris MorrisQuick note this morning: U.S. Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, D-N.Y., has endorsed U.S. Rep. Bill Owens, D-Plattsburgh, ahead of this fall's election in New York's new 21st Congressional District. This probably doesn't come as a big surprise to most of you. Here's the release issued by Owens' campaign team: Congressman Bill Owens today welcomed the formal support of Senator Kirsten Gillibrand. Before being elected to the Senate, Senator Gillibrand represented the old 20th Congressional District, which overlaps with the new 21st Congressional District in Essex, Washington, Warren and Saratoga counties. Senator Gillibrand and Congressman Owens are both up for re-election in November. "I am pleased to endorse Bill Owens for Congress," said Senator Gillibrand. "Bill has a proven track record of job creation in his home community of Plattsburgh and has continued to make job creation and economic development his priorities in Congress. Residents of Essex, Washington, Warren and Saratoga counties whom I used to represent would be well-served to have Bill Owens represent them in Congress next year." “Senator Gillibrand and I share a common desire to work across party lines, expanding economic opportunity and doing what’s right for our farmers, veterans, seniors and the middle class. I’m honored to have her support as we move forward towards November,” said Congressman Owens. Article CommentsNo comments posted for this article. Post a Comment | in: News, Blogs & Events Web |
