This Was No Fluke

I would like to congratulate the liberals on a successful bait-and-hook campaign. It appears to have been well planned and thought out.

Nancy Pelosi had a student by the name Sandra Fluke interviewed in a press conference designed to look like a hearing before Congress at which she told us of the catastrophic events that were occurring at Georgetown University. At least that’s the way she portrayed it. Her complaint was that she and other female students were unable to make ends meet due to the high price of contraception. She claimed that it was costing her $3,000 for the three years she was in law school and that the government should force the college to pay for those pills, even though the university is a Catholic run organization and it goes against their religious beliefs. The average age of a student attending Georgetown is 25 which means that most of the students who attend still fall under their parents insurance plan. I found that the Walmart store nearest her sells the contraception pill for $4/month. If she had invested the $3,000 at Walmart, she would have had a 62.5 year supply.

Rush Limbaugh decided to comment on this interview and in the process called her a “sl**” and “prostitute”. As I’ve stated before, I’m not one to condone name calling and although I enjoy listening to Rush, I agree that his statements were somewhat crude and unnecessary. Then again, so was Ed Shultz (MSNBC host) calling Laura Ingraham a “right-wing sl**” and Bill Mahar repeatedly calling Sarah Palin much worse on multiple occasions. Yet President Obama apparently only felt the need to call Ms. Fluke on the phone to extend his sympathies for the comments which were aimed at her by Rush. Why did Obama call her but not Laura Ingraham or Sarah Palin to offer sympathies for show hosts doing what they're paid for, speaking in ways that excite and entice those listening? Obama didn't even condemn the statements of Schultz or Mahar. In fact, he’s accepted $1,000,000 from Bill Mahar towards his upcoming reelection campaign. What kind of message does that send?

Maybe the President should worry about our rights and let us worry about our feelings.

Could it be that Ms. Fluke was really just an insider for the liberal mouthpiece from the very start? The bait just waiting for a conservative radio host to step across an imaginary line, as Rush was all too eager to do?

In fact, if you were a news agency and wanted to interview Ms. Fluke, you would have to go through her representative, Anita Dunn, Managing Director for SKDKnickerbocker. Ms. Dunn, coincidentally, was Obama’s Campaign Senior Advisor/Chief Communications Officer in 2008 and went on to become the White House Communications Director.

Why does Ms. Fluke keep declining Bill O’Reily’s invitation to go on his show? The O’Reilly Factor is, by far, the most popular news show on the air and I would think that would be her best avenue to get her message out to the most listeners.

Ms. Fluke tried to make this out to be a women’s health issue, claiming they needed the contraception to treat a condition called PCOS. Since she does not claim to have this condition but does complain that the costs of contraception affects her personally, this seems like she is just exploiting the women who do suffer from this ailment for her own personal gain. A quick internet search reveals that the contraception pill is just one of many different treatments for PCOS.

Nobody is forcing Ms. Fluke to attend Georgetown University and if she has the grades and means with which to attend this college, then there are many other quality schools that have benefits that may suit Ms. Fluke’s personal needs better. If Ms. Fluke is trying to appeal to the OWS crowd I hope she realizes that the average salary of Georgetown University student in their first year is $160,000, putting her well on her way to becoming a one-percenter.
