| | Legislature submits congressional linesMarch 1, 2012 - Chris MorrisWe've got proposals for new congressional district lines from the state Legislature. You can see the Republican-controlled Senate lines here, and the Democrat-controlled Assembly lines here. The Senate has proposed a 23rd Congressional District that shapes a sort of North Country district. This proposal is, at least for me, interesting in that it brings up the Doug Hoffman question. Hoffman told me recently he would consider running again if Lake Placid was incorporated into NY-23. The Senate has proposed just that by bringing all of Essex County into the district. If Hoffman were to run, you would have a crowded Republican field that includes Matt Doheny, Kellie Greene, Tim Stampfler and Hoffman. The Assembly map is more of a head-scratcher, at least in terms of demographics and geography. The 23rd District wouldn't change much, but it would create a 20th District that stretches from Keeseville to Binghamton. I'll have more on these proposals later today and in tomorrow's paper. Check out the maps and feel free to share your thoughts. Article CommentsNo comments posted for this article. Post a Comment | in: News, Blogs & Events Web |
