David Kimmel to run for Assembly, again

February 29, 2012 - Chris Morris
Remember David Kimmel?

He's the Conservative who ran, unsuccessfully, against Assemblywoman Janet Duprey, R-Peru, in the 2010 election.

Well, he's back.

Kimmel issued a press release this morning to announce that he will formally announce his candidacy in this year's Assembly race at an event in Plattsburgh at 7 p.m. March 6. The event will take place at 13 Latour Ave.

This means Duprey faces two challengers from the right: Kimmel and Plattsburgh educator Karen Bisso, who worked for Kimmel's campaign two years ago. That should make things interesting.

So far, no Democrats have stepped forward to challenge Duprey. If you recall, Rudy Johnson of Malone ran on the Democratic line in 2010. Duprey handily defeated Johnson and Kimmel.

I'll have more on this development later today. I'm scheduled to speak with Kimmel in a few minutes, and I'll speak with Bisso and Duprey this afternoon.
