Lessons learned from the Adk Club and Resort?

Did you see this story about Oak Mountain? It's a ski slope run by Hamilton County for the last few years, but the county is now trying to sell it and is having a hard time.

Bill Farber, who I believe is the king of Hamilton County, told the Times Union's Brian Nearing he believes residential subdivisions would be a low priority for the ski area, favoring other uses like skiing or mountain biking.

"Farber said the lessons of the long-delayed Adirondack Club and Resort project in Tupper Lake, which has been embroiled in controversy between supporters and opponents during years of APA review, shows that some projects are less likely to gain wide public support than others."
