Good, Good and about time

January 25, 2009 - John Stack

Sometimes, the news is slow and I write about things that I have wanted for a while. Then there are days like Friday.

Paterson made a fantastic choice in picking Gillibrand for Senator. I have been touting her for a while, and the North Country and New York really wins on this one. How can you tell it was a good pick? All our local elected statre Reps only had good things to say - and they're all Republicans! Teresa Sayward, betty Little and Janet Duprey all raved about her. They did because Kirsten is not a demagogue. She standsup for the 2nd amendment and voted against the bailout. She also crushed Sandy Treadwell and raised a small fortune in defeating him, in just about the most republican district in the state. What else could Paterson want? Now, betty Little is looking at Gillibrands post. I can't imagine what Democrat could win the spot, and I like and support Betty Little. This could open up Little's spot, and Teresa Sayward would be a great choice there. This would leave Teresa's spot open which is anyone's guess (a political pundit from Saranac Lake?)

Next, Obama quietly rescinded another Bush presidential order (to no one's surprise) which denied aid to foreign agencies that performed abortions or even gave information on abortion. What a convoluted order. Something that is totally legal here in the US, and because of political persuasion, Bush had made it illegal in other parts of the world, often leavig poor women with no prenatal care or medical advice because the agencies couldn't survive without US support. Those few poor souls who seem to have to find something good about Bush point to his help in the fight against AIDS in Africa - if you overlook all the egecies that could have helkped with sexually transmitted diseases that weren't ale to perform their duties because of Bush himself.

Finally - Dorian Grey er Joe Bruno has finally been indicted. Its been known he's been under investigation by the FBI for at least 3 years. If all the truth came out, Blagejovich would probably look like a choirboy. As he served as State Senator and Majority leader, he continued to work for a consulting firm (and has become CEO of a lobbying company since resigning). He has refused to acknowledge any of his customers to his consulting business. Why else would someone come and talk to joe Bruno at his consulting firm other than to gain access to influence in Albany? Why would a firm keep him employed if he couldn't bring home the bacon for their clients?

Oh yeah. And of course Sarah Palin can't keep out of the news. Now i know why she didn't answer Katie Couric about the papers she read because it turns out they are Soap Opera Weekly, News of the World, Star, and the National Enquirer.
