| | The other pollAugust 3, 2011 - Jessica CollierOh yeah, forgot to mention the other poll in that last post. After Mickey first made his remarks, we ran a poll asking readers if they support the village board's demand that developers overhaul the Big Tupper Ski Area sooner than in the project's third year, as planned. 597 people voted, and of them, 43 percent said yes, 53 percent said no, and 4 people were undecided. Thought that was pretty interesting. It's almost the same number of votes as the other poll I mentioned, so it's nice to be able to compare a little bit. Our voters are in favor of the project being passed, but maybe they want the conditions it's passed under be a little more stringent than what's now on the table. Also, I should note as always that these polls are by NO means scientific. Voters are far from a random sample. I know that for at least one of them (don't remember which), ARISE was posting on its own website as well as the Big Tupper facebook page and a few other places that people needed to vote on the poll if they want skiing to continue at Big Tupper. Which isn't quite what either question was asking, obviously. Also, it's nice to think that our polls hold that kind of weight with any government entity or developer or anything, but I'm pretty sure they don't. We just find think they're interesting, and I think a lot of you do, too. Article CommentsNo comments posted for this article. Post a Comment | in: News, Blogs & Events Web |
