(Free) Press's ACR coverage on NCPR today

June 14, 2011 - Jessica Collier
Brian Mann did a story today on Dan McClelland and his coverage of the ACR hearings. Go check it out at NCPR's website and also read his blog post on it.

We had a good amount of discussion on that on this blog last week, though I was hoping there might be some more discussion about other news outlets as well. I've heard bias accusations about WNBZ and NCPR. Brian's story about the project's economic viability was blown off by some as just a crunchy enviro's slant, though the story dredged up some major concerns. And at WNBZ, George Earl is being accused of bias because he only attended a few hearing sessions, despite the fact that he's one of only a two-man news staff.

Also, we haven't seen the Plattsburgh Press-Republican cover the resort much at all lately, when some important things are being dealt with. What do you think about their selective coverage? Also, what about WPTZ? WCAX?

We also see the AP and Albany-area news outlets like the Times Union and WAMC pick up ACR stories occasionally. There were people from WAMC and the AP at the March 16 legislative hearing where people aired their opinions, but they haven't run with any of the actual information dealt with in testimony since then. What do you think of that?

This whole thing dovetails nicely with the post I was planning on writing later today. Check back in a few hours!

Incidentally, I wrote (Free) Press in the post title in part to play on the Free Press's nameplate, which dropped the word "Free" down to a barely readable 3 points so people stopped thinking they didn't have to pay to take the paper. Read the story the Enterprise ran about that here.
