Ride for the River returns for third annual running
WILMINGTON – The third annual Ride for the River cycling event will be based at the Hungry Trout Resort on Sunday, Aug. 3.
The Ride for the River celebrates the scenic and recreational resources of the AuSable River as well as the communities that make the AuSable Valley a great place to live, work and play.
This is a family-friendly event with route options for all ages and skill levels. The three scenic routes designed by LeepOff Cycles follow the AuSable River and travel through local communities. Registration is now open at www.ridefortheriver.org.
All proceeds of the ride benefit the AuSable River Association’s work to protect and restore the natural resources of the AuSable River for the benefit of both human and natural communities.
A picnic lunch, live, music and raffle will follow the ride. The top prize for the raffle is a Hornbeck canoe. Second place will receive a half-day guided fly fishing trip for two.
Hornbeck Boats along with Bruce Berra and the Hungry Trout Fly Shop have stepped up to support the ride by making donations to the raffle. Hornbeck and Berra have provided a 12-foot New Trick canoe, Werner paddle and life jacket. This is a handmade carbon fiber/kevlar boat built in the Adirondack Park. The boat is a great canoe for exploring Adirondack waters, weighing in at less than 20 pounds.
Information on the businesses sponsoring the ride and how to become a sponsor can be found at www.ridefortheriver.org.
Proceeds from the ride directly fund AsRA’s work with local municipalities, businesses and residents to build community and ecological resilience in the face of future flood events.
